The Soul
The soul is sometimes referred to as the inner eye or the eye of your understanding.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Mathew 6:22-23 (KJV)
What is the Soul?
In an attempt to define the soul, the soul is but is not limited to the following.
- It is the immaterial product of God’s breath or spirit entering the lifeless man. Thereby forming his consciousness.
- The soul of man is the seat of his consciousness. It is the home for man’s will, mind, and emotions.
- It is the aspect or essence of a human being, that confers individuality and humanity.
A simple and illustrative way of explaining the soul is by using the knowledge from elementary chemistry. In chemistry, there is something called atoms.
An atom is the basic building block of chemistry. It is the smallest unit into which matter can be divided without the release of electrically charged particles.
It is also the smallest unit of matter that has the characteristic properties of a chemical element.
Our current model of the atom can be broken down into three constituent parts which are
- protons,
- neutron, and
- electrons.
Each of these parts has an associated charge, with protons carrying a positive charge, electrons having a negative charge, and neutrons being neutral due to a balance of positive and negative charges.
The will of man which is the inner layer of the soul can be likened to protons
The mind which is the middle layer can be likened to neutrons.
The emotion which is the outer layer of the soul can be likened to electrons.
Calibration
- Calibration simply means to adjust by comparison with a standard.
- It is the act or process of determining, checking, or rectifying the settings or gradations on a measuring instrument or other pieces of precision equipment;
- It is also the act or process of planning or devising something carefully so as to have a precise use, application, appeal, etc.
Self-Image
Your self-image is the mental picture you have about yourself. See more about self-image here
Soul Infrastructure
The soul of man comprises the Will, mind, and emotions.
But, between the soul and the spirit is the heart. The heart of man is the control valve between the soul and the spirit.
These three parts of the soul operate in accordance with the state of the heart per time. The heart of man can assume different states which I call postures. These postures can be seen below.
Heart Postures
Hardened heart. Exodus 8:32, Mark 3:5, Mark 6:52
A wise and willing heart. Exodus 35:20, 22, 25. Exodus 36:8
These different heart postures can alter the delicate balance of the soul.
Things that clog your soul
The list is limitless but just to mention a few
- Past experiences
- Un-forgiveness
- Hurt and pain
- Sin
- Guilt
How to calibrate your soul
1. Understand that the soul operates at different energy levels.
An energy level is a comparative level of capacity for vigorous activity. It is one of the stable states of constant energy that may be assumed by a physical system.
The soul of man came to being when the breath of God impacted the lifeless body of man. In other words, the soul is the result of the interaction between the spirit and the body.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
Just as the operating system for computers is either windows or Mac O.S and so on, the operating system for man is God.
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Acts 17:28 (KJV)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)
From the scriptures above we can see the following.
- The word “places” is plural which tells us it’s more than one place.
- It also informs us that in Christ Jesus there are several frames of reference.
- It also informs us that every man regardless of their belief comes from God and resides in him. The earth is just a physical and visible plane. When we die we will exist in the invisible plane.
The soul of man is the “us” referred to in Ephesians 2:6
The fall of man had a gross impact on the soul in that it changed our frame of reference and we begin to see ourselves through the lens of our either positive or negative experiences.
For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
2 Corinthians 10:12(KJV)
This energy level is the place in Christ. We will take about the different energy levels in another post.
2. The law of atmosphere.
The soul has the capacity of trapping and vibrating to electromagnetic signals.
These signals are projected to us through the various activities in our surroundings and are carried by the energy of sound. Sound on its own serves as a key that opens the portal to spirits that invade our atmosphere.
Hence there are some sounds when you hear them the spirit of lust is released into the atmosphere and you begin to have sexual urges the same goes for suicide and so on.
If we live in God as the first point has rightly said, then feed your atmosphere with godly sounds and you’ll begin to see yourself in a positive light as the Scripture says “ye are gods”.
3. Forgive yourself
Guilt is a form of emotional and mental bondage. What does the Bible say about ignorance?
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every-where to repent:
Acts 17:29-30 (KJV)
4. Understand that by default you have the mind of Christ
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV)
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High
Psalm 82:6 (KJV)
5. The art of meditation
You are the reflection of your thoughts.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
Meditation is an act of keeping still. It involves engaging your spirit to brood over a subject or thing.
It is deep calling unto deep. It is having a mental picture of something. It is also engaging the creative nature of the mind to achieve a goal.
The mistake many who know this practice make is that they meditate on things other than God and when you do so you are merely reducing your worth or value.
For man was created in the image of God, so to get a better view or frame of yourself you need to go back to your mold.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth
Colosians 3:2 (KJV)
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psalm 1:2-3 (KJV)
