Man was created as Spirit, Soul and Body. He was created in the image and likeness of God. So what Adam had then was \”The God Nature\”. With the fall of man came sin. Then man lost his God nature and he was left with \” The Sin Nature \”. The sin nature is what drives man to sin.
At this point, man had three problems
1. The Sin Nature
2. Sin
3. Body of sin ( this is the flesh)
By the death of Jesus on the cross, God dealt with these three problem in these different ways.
1. The sin nature was killed or destroyed by the cross and replaced with the God Nature \”The Holy Spirit\”.
2. Sin itself was taken care of by the blood of Jesus.
3. The body of sin dealt with by the principle of consecration. Jesus said, deny yourself (flesh) take up your cross and follow me.
All these put together is what is called \”Salvation\”.
WHAT THEN IS SALVATION?
Salvation is an act of grace, borne out of the love of God, which we received or became a party to, through faith. Grace made salvation available and faith makes it ours. We are saved by grace, through faith. Ephesians 2:8.
There are two keywords here which are:
1. Grace
2. Faith
- Grace:
a. Grace is a supernatural ability to do what we as humans can not naturally do. The Natural man cannot know God neither worship Him. 1st Corinthians 2:14.
b. Its an economy, a system or a provision in God that enforce ( inputs), the righteousness of God upon a man. Its a system that constrains you to bear the righteousness of God. Grace if it\’s grace, should lead you more and more to the righteousness of God.
2. Faith
Faith is the end result of an encounter with God.
What Then Happens, When one does the following?
1. Go back to old habits and sins.
2. Make compromises and betraying Jesus just like Judas did, maybe for promotion or self defence.
3. Continue in sin consciously.
4. Walking in conscious disobedience. to the commandments of Jesus.
Jesus in Luke 9:62 said \”Anyone who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back, is not fit for the Kingdom of God\”.
Apostle Paul in 2corinthian 13:5. (ESV Version) says \”Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?-unless indeed you fail to meet the test!\”
WHY DO WE NEED TO EXAMINE OURSELVES?
1. To know if we are in alignment with God\’s mind and will.
2. To ensure that we are walking worthy of our calling. Just as we look into the mirror for faults to fix, and ensure we look presentable. Same way we are to look into Gods word (the spiritual mirror) to help us examine ourselves.
So Yes, One can loose his salvation. Once saved is not forever saved.
Hebrews 2:3
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
In case you have erred from the faith there is still much opportunities to retrace your steps back to Jesus.
Salvation is still open to everyone that wants to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. As you do so, I see you experiencing a new dimension in your walk with God.
Say this prayers, Lord Jesus, I come to you, have mercy upon me, I accept you as my Lord and personal saviour. Come into my life and grant unto me your precious Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus.
God bless you.
