The secret to getting answers from God always is based on these two truths about man, which are:
- His structure
- His functionality

The entity called man is the apex of God’s creation. He was created in the image and likeness of God. The image talks about man’s structure while the likeness speaks of his functionality.
According to scriptures, the original blueprint which shows us how man was designed to live and function were given by Jesus in two separate instances.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
lUKE 18:1 (KJV)
The former talks about his structure while the latter talks about his functionality.
From Matthew 4:4, we could see that the discourse was on how a man should live.
Jesus was seen reminding the devil that according to the blueprint of creation, it was stated that any creature that falls into the category of man would live or is designed to live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.
There are several dimensions or aspects to the word of God. Quickly, we will take three.
- The written word “logos”.
- The revealed word “Rhema”.
- The spoken word “utterance”.
From Luke 18:1 we see Jesus making a very strong statement, and it is upon this statement we shall be finding our bearing as touching our subject matter.
Jesus in Luke 18:1 was saying that, according to the original design of creation, any creature that falls under the jurisdiction or class of man ought always to pray and not faint.
The original Greek word for ought is “δεῖ” its Transliteration is “dei”.
One of its many shades of meaning is “binding”.
It means it is binding for man to always pray. It also means for man to continue existing in his proper form as man, he must pray.
The implication of this statement is, that anytime a man stops praying, he has decided to function less than what he is or he has decided to become a caricature of himself.
These two statements of Jesus in Matthew 4:4 and Luke 18:1 point to the fact that:
- Man was designed to live by or the quality of man’s true-life hangs on every utterance of God. This is what being formed in the same image of God means. 2 Cor 3:18 makes it clear.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)
Man was designed to function by prayer. It is a known fact that the function of a product is built inside it by the manufacturer.
In the same vein, when God wanted a being whose special function was music, he created Lucifer and built tabrets into him. See Ezekiel 28:13.
When God wanted a being who will interact with him, house him, model heaven on earth, and make bare his kingdom here on earth through prayer, he created man and built inside him prayer.
This is why before the fall of man, there was no place recorded that man prayed but he was interacting with God. But after the fall, when man wanted to interact with God, he has to find a way to pray.
And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
Genesis 4:26
Hence the Apostles in the book of Acts decided to give, and surrender themselves to prayer. In other words, make themselves slaves to prayer and word study.
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
Acts 6:4 (KJV)
Therefore, from the truths established above, we can deduce that man is a creature of prayer. He is a mobile altar.
What then is prayer?
- It is a system of authorization in the realm of the spirit. That is, it is giving a spirit, in our case God, a legal ground to operate in your sphere, region, life, situation, or the physical realm. Why is this so? See Psalm 115:16
- It is interacting with the spirit realm.
- It is the gateway between the spirit realm and the physical realm.
- It is asking God to intervene in a situation on the basis of his word. 2chronicles 20:16
- It is two-way communication with God. Jeremiah 33:3.
- It is a practice of asking and receiving from God.
Based on the above definitions, getting answers from God is anchored or predicated on the following points.
- The art of prayer.
- The spirit of prayer.
- The posture of prayer.
- The man of prayer
- The place of faith in prayer
- Spiritual intelligence in prayer
- Discovering the will of God.
- Enforcing the will of God.
- The 3-fold cord technique.
The art of prayer.
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Matthew 6:9 (KJV)
The keyword in Jesus\’ statement above is “manner”. This implies that there is a laid down principle, ethics, or standard. It also implies that prayer is not something that started on earth.
What is this manner?
From Matthew 6:9-10, we can see that:
- God is our father. Many are still yet to understand the fatherhood side of God. All through scriptures, from the old testament to the new testament, God showed himself severally as a loving father who desires a relationship with man.
Who is a father?
Simply put, a father is a person who plays the role of a father.
God\’s fatherly roles among many are:
- He provides for his family (us). Jehovah Jireh.
- He supplies our needs. Jehovah El-Shaddai
- He heals and comforts us. Jehovah Rapha.
- He sings our praise. Jehovah Nissi.
- He protects us. Jehovah Elyon. And many more.
The Holy Spirit represents the trinity. He lives inside us. He was given to us so we can relate with God as the Father.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Romans 8:16 (KJV)
2. God runs a kingdom and this kingdom has a government.
3. Gods will come from this kingdom.
4. His will must be done on earth as it is heaven.
The rest part of that verse in Matthew 6 which we know as the lord\’s prayer has its foundation in the above truths.
The Spirit of prayer.
Zechariah 12:10, Romans 8:26-27. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of grace and supplication. He is the quickening Spirit. He is the Spirit of prayer and intercession.
Answers to prayer can be predicated upon God\’s will. For God\’s will is self-anointed.
Take down these points.
- Its only God\’s will that will be done
- God’s will has to be shown to you.
- The Holy Spirit prays according to God\’s will.
The posture of prayer.
Man as we know is tri-partite in nature. He is spirit, soul, and body. These three parts have sub parts as seen below.
Spirit – Intuition, Conscience, and fellowship
Soul – Will, mind, and emotions
Body – The 5 senses.
But between the soul and the spirit is the heart. The heart of man is the control valve between his soul and his spirit. Hence Scripture will say the following.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
For further reference see: Romans 16:18, 1Sam 16:7, Matthew 15:19
The heart of man can attain different postures as seen in the following.
- Evil heart. Genesis 6:5
- Hardened heart. Exodus 8:32, Mark 3:5, Mark 6:52
- A wise and willing heart. Exodus 35:20, 22, 25. Exodus 36:8
- Uncircumcised heart. Leviticus 26:41, Acts 7:51
- Obstinate and wicked heart. Deuteronomy 2:30, Deuteronomy 15:9
- Trembling heart. Deuteronomy28:65
- Merry heart. Judges 16:25, 19:6, Ruth 3:7
- A wise and understanding heart. 1 kings 3:12
- Clean and pure heart. Psalm 51:10, Matthew 5:8
- Meek and lowly heart. Matthew 11:29
- Foolish heart. Romans 1:21
In all of these, it is only a yielded, contrite, clean, and broken heart that gets quick answers from God.
The man of prayer.
Scriptures capture that in the subject of prayer, a man in his natural state is incapacitated.
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26 -27 (KJV)
For accurate prayers to be made, the person praying should know the following.
- Know his limitation. As a human, you don’t know the mind of God. Learn to depend on the Holy Spirit.
- Submit himself under God\’s government through the Holy Spirit.
- Know that God’s desire is to answer his children, but according to his will and not ours.
The place of faith in prayer.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

Spiritual intelligence in prayers.
- Discovering the will of God. Jeremiah 33:3. This implies that God’s will has to be shown to you. For this to happen, you have to call on God in prayer.
- Enforcing the will of God using the 3-fold technique.
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
2 Corinthians 13:1 (KJV)
And if one prevails against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 (KJV)
The 3-fold cord technique means, getting at least 3 scriptures to back up your point or casein prayers. For better results, draft them from both the old and new testaments.
Conclusion
Answers to prayers will be gotten after God\’s will has been shown to you and the manifestation of the answers in the physical realm will come when you do according to the pattern shown to you.
